Understanding default router passwords

This directory looks up published default administrator credentials by brand and model. It does not recover a changed Wi-Fi password, generate a universal password or bypass authentication. A correct model match and the device label are more reliable than a password suggested for an entire brand.

Know your brand?

A factory default describes an initial configuration, not the password currently set on a device. Match the full model and hardware revision, then check the label and manufacturer or provider documentation. The directory is a reference aid; it does not test a password against your router or retrieve a changed password.

Username / Password

The administrator password controls router settings; the Wi-Fi password joins the wireless network. They may differ. Use the exact model, hardware revision and provider instructions when checking defaults. An empty field or dash in the directory is an unverified database value, not a promise that a blank password will work.

Before changing settings

Change one setting at a time and keep the previous value. Back up the configuration if supported; the backup can contain private network information. After saving, verify the connection from a device you control. If access is lost, return to the last known working configuration before making more changes.

Forgot your admin password?

Check the device label, saved passwords and provider documentation first. A factory reset is a last resort because it may erase Internet credentials, Wi-Fi settings and custom rules. Prepare the recovery details before following the manufacturer’s model-specific instructions. A normal restart is a different operation.
